Initiative and Leadership

Goals/Objectives

  • Families and individuals with disabilities will acquire knowledge of leadership concepts
  • Families and individuals with disabilities will explore various leadership roles
  • Families and individuals with disabilities will acquire knowledge of the implications leadership can have on the lives of families and individuals with disabilities

Imagine Better

Goals/Objectives

  • Families and individuals with disabilities will acquire knowledge of “best practices” in supports and services
  • Families and individuals with disabilities will learn strategies for developing relationships and community involvement
  • Families and individuals with disabilities will acquire knowledge about the quality of services and supports
  • Families and individuals with disabilities will develop their vision that will be used to develop a graphic depiction

  • Families and individuals will acquire knowledge of the concepts and implementation of advocacy
  • Families and individuals will consider best advocacy practices for their personal situations
  • Families and individuals will gain knowledge of issues and concerns of brothers and sisters of family members with disabilities

Change Through Legislation

Goals/Objectives

  • Families and individuals will visit and gain knowledge of Massachusetts State House
  • Families and individuals will gain knowledge of the Massachusetts legislative system
  • Families and individuals with disabilities will acquire ability to procure resources through legislative change
  • Families and individuals with disabilities will acquire strategies to develop networks with professionals and families

Caring for the Caretaker

Goals/Objectives

  • Families will experience an interactive session on the importance of the care of care-takers
  • Families will acquire creative strategies to decrease stress and increase personal satisfaction
