What You Need to Know
The Northeast Region is proud to offer a Family Leadership Series, A Full Life Ahead workshops, Advocacy Bootcamp, as well as conferences and special events to increase the skills and knowledge of families that include loved ones with disabilities.
Our Family Leadership Series brings together families from communities as south as Everett, as far west as Dunstable, and north to the New Hampshire border. Graduates have gone on to pursue LEND and Crocker Fellowships, write books, stage statewide campaigns, and be strong leaders within their local neighborhoods and communities.
Advocacy Bootcamp is open to primary caregivers of children birth to age 10 from across Massachusetts, as funding allows. Participants have described remarkable transformation in their confidence and ability to manage the various components of their own family’s daily life, as well as to work towards empowering their children with enviable lives.
We empower families that include transition-age youth and adults by welcoming them at our Family Leadership Series and through our A Full Life Ahead workshops hosted in partnership with the Mass Down Syndrome Congress [<- link to mdsc.org]. We welcome subject-matter experts to present cutting-edge information about policy, practice, and various resources.
We have a strong commitment to reaching culturally and linguistically diverse families. We are proud to include Latina family leaders on our team and to have strong partnerships with organizations like the Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association. We look forward to deepening our relationships with community-based organizations and groups in the coming years.
We are delighted to speak with and present to any organizations and family groups in northeastern Massachusetts. Please reach out to Sophia Johansson, Northeast Regional Coordinator, to learn more about our work and how you can get involved!
